2 1/4 cups granulated sugar

4 eggs

1/4 cup dark brown sugar, packed

1/4 cup coffee liqueur

2 tsp. vanilla

1/4 cup espresso powder

1 1/4 cups all purpose flour

1 tsp. baking powder

1/4 cup heavy cream

1/2 tbsp. coffee liqueur

For garnish:

8 chocolate covered coffee beans

8 coffee and cocoa glazed walnut halves (Recipe follows)

Baking Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350oF.

Spray an 8 or 9 inch cake pan with non-stick cooking spray and flour it well. Or use “Bakers Joy” spray which has non-stick oil plus flour for a quick prep of baking pans.

Sift dry ingredients together into a small bowl, reserve.

Place 1/4 cup butter in a small sauce pan or micro-wave safe bowl, add unsweetened chocolate. Melt together, stir to combine. Reserve momentarily.

Place 1/2 cup butter into large mixer bowl of electric mixer, whip until light and fluffy. Add granulated and brown sugars. Beat until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time beating after each addition. Add coffee liqueur, mix in well. Add melted chocolate and butter mixture and vanilla, mix well.

Pour half the dry ingredients into mixer bowl, set mixer speed to stir to combine well. Add remaining dry ingredients and stir in.

Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 30-35 minutes.

Remove from oven, allow to cool 5 minutes. Remove from pan. Cool completely before applying glaze.

To make coffee glazed walnuts:

Combine 1 tbsp. brown sugar and 1/2 tbsp. butter into a skillet. Allow butter to melt, sugar will start to bubble. Add walnuts halves, stirring constantly, cook for 2 minutes. Remove from heat, toss with 2 tbsp. cocoa to coat. Let cool before using.

Bring cream almost to a boil, remove from heat. Add chocolate chips and coffee liqueur. After chocolate chips melt, stir well. Pour over completely cool brownies.

Garnish top of brownies alternating 1 coffee bean, one walnut, around edge of whole thing until you run out of garnish. Allow glaze to harden for 1 hour before serving.
